hand-drawn blackworks tattoo  designs

A short story about how these designs introduced themselves to me. At around 11 years old, I found myself creating these drawings that had an Aboriginal tribal vibe about them, completely out of the blue without any prior influence or guidance.  As my collection grew, a family member shared my artwork with an interested person, and unfortunately, I never saw them again.

Fast forward to the 1990s. Life happened; I kept drawing whenever I could. I got my first tattoo from Brian Martin at Brian's Tattoo, and when I showed him my designs, he liked what he saw and added them to his flash wall. That moment was not only an incredible honor but also a turning point in my artistic path ahead. To this day I still apply the skills and knowledgeable advice that I learned from that experience, creating designs that are inspired by art history, the world around me, and a great respect for traditional hand-drawn blackwork art. Even though I eventually pursued painting over tattooing, my appreciation and continued participation in tattoos remain.
